I offer private tutoring, remotely (over the internet), for all ages (down to 6th grade). Please consider me if you know someone who could use help with writing or reading– or if you are such a person, yourself. I also help with résumés and work-related writing, college application essays, scholarship essays, and more (see below).

–I have also done grading professionally for state standardized tests (high school level), and so can tutor students in preparing/practicing for the written part of such tests
–I received the Claes Nobel Teacher Appreciation Prize, 2004 (Claes Nobel was [he passed away in 2021] a senior member of the Swedish Nobel family, and a relative of Dr. Alfred Nobel.)
–I work remotely/online, so your location is no problem
–Worried that your young student might not be interested in talking to me? You’re in luck: I am also a huge pop-culture geek– I can talk ALL about comic books, manga (Japanese-style comics), and anime. I have been an adapter, editor for various manga companies and have written comic books, manga, and graphic novels, and have been a reviewer of same. I also “speak video games.”
–SOME OF MY SERVICES:
- Help with a document: A paper for school, a report for work, a college admissions essay, an essay written as part of a scholarship, a résumé– I will help you make this as well-written as possible. If it’s not a paper for school, I can help you much more. You don’t have to have a face-to-face meeting with me for help of this kind, so the price is only 30 dollars.
- Online real-time tutoring: 45 dollars an hour. I will give up to an hour of real-time online tutoring using Google Meet or Zoom (other options may be possible if you have another preference). I can help with schoolwork or just guide a student through writing exercises and talk about what their strengths are– and what areas they need to strengthen.
- Bargain Bundle: For 400 dollars, I will do 10 hours, spread out however you’d like– once a week, twice a week, or some other arrangement. (Since this would be the equivalent of 10 of the above-mentioned sessions, you’d be saving 50 dollars by doing this as opposed to purchasing them individually.)
(All mention of “dollars” refers specifically to American/United States currency)
–I do not do “sample” tutoring sessions for free, but if you want, I will do a “meet and greet” online session for free just so you can see I’m a nice person and get to know me first.
–In short, for anything involving writing, editing, or proofreading, contact me for reasonable rates upon request. (This includes consultation on writing scripts for comic books, manga, and graphic novels.)

Testimonials/endorsements:
“If you are looking for an English tutor, then look no further! I worked with Dr. Cooper for over five years, starting when I was a college freshman at my local community college. As a college freshman, my writing skills were not at a college level, but that did not stop Dr. Cooper from not only improving my writing skills, but also in helping me to build confidence in my writing by giving me astute feedback, resources on how to write better, and most importantly by believing in me. Dr. Cooper is an amazing tutor because instead of just telling you grammar mistakes, he makes sure your paper follows its goal of getting your message across. Grammar is an important part, and Dr. Cooper can easily help you with that, but if you want to improve your communication skills, and if you want to become an effective writer, then you should work with Dr. Cooper. I have never received lower than an A on all my college papers because of Dr. Cooper. Most importantly, because he has helped me advance my writing skills, I have won three scholarships in the past two years at a competitive level while at Texas State University, with essays requiring applicants to have a 3.5 GPA or higher.”

“Preston helped me with a long list of questions that I had. He clearly spent time prepping before our meeting, creating a list of resources for me to use. His answers were clear and helpful to reach my specific goals.”
